'Onder Ogen’ is a minimalist video installation that confronts viewers with their own need for distraction in a society dominated by constant stimulation. The work explores the value of boredom, silence and discomfort as a counterresponse to this overload.

The installation is deliberately slow, repetitive and seemingly simple. It is precisely through the absence of action that space for introspection emerges: feelings and thoughts we usually suppress become visible once distraction disappears. In this way, Onder Ogen is confronting, reflective and almost inescapable.

At a time when our attention is constantly being claimed by notifications, algorithms and screens, Onder Ogen exposes a vulnerable point: our fear of silence and boredom. While distraction is often sought as a way to find peace, the installation reveals that the opposite may be true.

The work highlights the urgency of reflecting on our relationship with time, stimulation and distraction. In a world that is becoming increasingly fast-paced and overwhelming, Onder Ogen offers a necessary moment of reflection. It invites viewers not to avoid discomfort, but to embrace it as a pathway to inner calm and deeper understanding.
